We were told to keep the ends open for the airflow but we tried the paper bag method a couple of years ago and we found them useless - the birds still managed to get to the grapes and the hundreds of wasps just kept coming back to be fed.  Last year we covered the grapes in netting, which was better but we must make sure this year that we close both ends off better as the birds still got in.  We have 8 vines along our wall and this year they've gone mad.
You can't always control who walks into your life...but you CAN control which window you throw them out of.

Can someone help please, first time I am going to protect my grapes from birds etc., have purchased the paper bags from Longo's, open ended at both ends, do I staple the bottom of the bag so they are closed after putting over the grapes ???? Or do they need the air to flow through, any help gratefully apreciated.
