Windows update will not install !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Techie peeps

Got an ASUS Laptop running windows 8 (Grrrrrrrrr)  and for about 3 months some windows updates won't download and install.  Did all the normal stuff like system restore to before the date this problem started but to no avail.

Having looked at the updates there is only one which consistently fails.   Watching the screen it goes through all the normal stuff then I get elements fail to install then uninstalling  etc etc.  Computer restarts and theres no notification of a Windows Update wants to install yet next day it's on the home screen before the log in box.

I have tried to uninstall the one that fails with no success.  Any assistance would be really appreciated as if I ignore the notification the computer goes into installing updates and dumps whatever I'm working on !  HELP PLEASE !
