Hartcjhart, Absolutely agree with you. the old Costa Almeria Forum was the first one that I visited 10 years ago. It was a fountain of great info on all things Almeria and not specific to one area of the region.

You are soooo right about this one continuing to grow. And it really is a case of damned if you do and damned if you don´t.
It can be a bit like IS at times with a faceless enemy :):)

But we will keep plodding along singing a song side by side :)

as has been said, the problem with running a forum is damned if you do damned if you dont,I was a moderator on the old costaalmeria forum from its early days which I think even Phil will agree with was the biggest/most popular forum in the area at the time and if we deleted a post we were wrong.if we left the post we were wrong, sadly that board is no longer running for various reasons,so in its place this forum has taken over and continued to grow and will continue to grow,for every 1 that flounces off there will be 10 more replacements

Felipe, I wouldn't take too much notice of these last few comments, old macc's just grumpy coz the jocks aint got no oil no more, so he's gotta stay dependent on the English for his benefits now. there's also another forum started up somewhere nearby which I don't know of, but feel it anyway, coz it's been mentioned.
I think that if someone wants to contribute to a forum, they will, all forums have a silent majority. Some people just have the hump wherever they are and will get the ache if things don't always go their way. Debate is debate and long may it live :clap:

I am one of the new members today and came accross the forum by accident and have already learned some helpful things from various threads.
I'm not saying I will be posting all the time that isn't the purpose of a forum but will certainly post relevant requests for help or responses if I can contribute.
I am not new to the area as have an apartment in Vera Playa but was looking for information on a particular subject and glad I found this forum.
People will have differences but as long as it is dealt with respectively then this shouldn't be an issue.

Also interesting that most of those that complain about the forum are never willing to disclose who they really are. I offered a face to face with brucie1 on two occasions, guess what? Was this meant to be a private message Brucie.  I would have to a agree with what Johnjones had to say about the forum. Filipe saying it is going from strength to strength with new members every day just doesn,t show on here, it seems to be slowly dying, if new members are joining, they are not bringing it back to life. I am sure Filipe will give us loads of stats, but it just doesn,t show on here. It used to be good and lively and even funny and informative, but with the same 6 as Johnjones says, 7 including Filipe it is slowly dying away, even the armless is deadly boring now. Nobody goes there anymore because nothing interesting is ever posted. When a moderator takes sides, he no longer is a moderator. My criticism, just like Johnjones is intended constructively, but i know that would be an impossibility. :lol:

I simply refer you to Phillip Lloyd´s post above. This forum is going from strength to strength signing new members daily. Three more today. I am not going to make comment on the other forum, cannot see the point.

Those 6 users and I assume you mean, but are not willing to name them, are Hogs, Tetley, gus, webby. Don´t know who else. They have been members of this forum for at least 6 years and have contributed to many topics and provided a plethora of information that our members have benefited from. If you regard that as bullying and being idiots then you clearly do not see the forum the same as the rest of the membership. Over 100 members per day make a posting on the forum. Over 500 different members every week make a posting.

Like I said, when one person is outnumbered, not by your so-called 6, but many others, they run and hide. That is not bullying, that is simply not standing up to your convictions.

As to advertising on the forum that is your loss. ALL of our advertisers have benefited from advertising with us. Otherwise they would not keep doing so month month out, year in year out, and we would be signing up new ones regularly.

We have many hundreds of members that post regularly and have debate. The problem arises when one or two do not like it when their side of the debate is out gunned by the majority.

They then thrown their toys out of the pram and leave the forum, blaming all and sundry for their reason for leaving.

Calling some of our members vile entities is a disgraceful and unfounded accusation. Perhaps it is you that is doing the bullying.

Your encouraging of the bullying of Away is disgraceful, your role as Moderator is to moderate such bullying, and it goes on time after time without you putting it in check.

It is why the other forum is flourishing and why I will never advertise here. You have allowed about 6 users to dominate and as you are fully aware it kills all conversation, rationale and reasonable debate. Why do you allow it to persist?
It is your Forum, but others are already proving it can be done better, without the half dozen idiots ruining it for everybody else. Express a view that is different to only get shot down? What kind of a forum is that? With the greatest respect, sort it out, put those people in check and you will see both visitor numbers and comments rise dramatically.

My criticism is intended constructively, whether you perceive it as such is entirely up to you.

Hogs, my views exactly. But that is just what some previous members are saying that we are a forum of no residents!!  It is amazing what jealousy does to some people. If this forum was so bad we would not be signing up so many new members.

Nibbler, that is one thing that has not reached here yet, IMHO. One can walk through a shop, down the road, make eye contact and say hola, and in return get hola or buenos dias in return, and not just from the Spanish. Long may it last.

People can get offended by the strangest of things, not just words on a page. Then hold grudges for years afterwards. All it proves is that they are very insular people. Which is why my motto is live & let live, life is too short. Move On!

Well said Phillip, but isn't that the way things have moved on in society. Now you only have to make a passing glance at someone and they want to fight you. I have been visiting the UK on a regular basis and I'm amazed at the number of people who are afraid to make eye contact.
