They award places due to a point system, if you work with a contract and thus need a place for the baby you get more points, if your husband is working you get more points, the more points you have the less you earn.

I paid nothing as I was working but my income was low.

Unfortunately there isnt a lot you can do as the points you are awarded decides the fee

I applied for my son Tommy who is 2 and a half to attend the nursery in preparation for him starting school in September and heard that some people only pay fees of 70 euro per month.

However when they got back to me they advised fees would be 280 euro per month?

We have been in Spain since July so have no renta (i think that's what its called) so we had to get a letter from our accountant stating our earnings (which is under 1000 euro per month)

Is it because we have not paid enough tax?
