Stella, for steak to cook yourself we've found the butcher in Iceland to have what is to our taste the best around.  For steak in a restaurant we like Angus and Hereford in Garrucha.

We bought some really cheap knives from a todo shop and they are brilliant.

Hardware stores and the Chinese and Spanish todo shops all have them, of varying quality.
