2013/14 winter flu jab

Although I mentioned that we hadn't received a letter this year yet, we don't have any intention of having the flu jab - just interested in the answer.

Do you really need to be vaccinated every year, could it really be safe. It,s a choice most people take without really knowing why, predicting 3 viruses from 300 or more for each years vaccine has a failure rate of 98% and causes more problems than it protects against, but as Rodney said, it is no joke, and that,s for sure. Just had ours today in Oria surgery, they've been doing them there for about 10 days.

Felix the chemist told us that the jabs are later this year because the weather has been warmer.

We've usually had a letter by now asking us to attend the medico for the annual flu injection, but no sign of one yet.

Approximately 4 weeks ago I read an article in one of our free news papers. The article was promoting in part the uptake of the 13/14 Winter Flu jab.
In a flat  statement it claimed that that the H1N1 stain of flu caused a swine flu pandemic in 2009
There never was  or has been a swine flu pandemic. The W.H.O will confirm this.

It also stated that serious side effects are rare, perhaps a slight temperature and aching muscles in the arm.
At approximately the same time the UK government (Department of Works and Pensions) announced that it had changed its position on the link between the GSK flu vaccine Pandemrix and Narcolepsy. People who were previous denied compensation are being contacted and informed that their claims will be considered once again.

This startling and dramatic U TURN by The UK Government is the result of a study of 4 to 18 year olds by The Health Protection Agency that found one in every 55.000 jabs was associated with Narcolepsy. A company spokesperson for GKS confirmed that they had details of around 900 people who have received the vaccine and developed Narcolepsy.
It is possible that the Swine Flu vaccine could still be included in the 2013/14 Flu Jab.  You would be well advised to ask if it is indeed included if you are thinking of having the jab this flu season.
The fact is that  there is no evidence that  a flu shot can actually prevent flu.
