We rented a house in Albaida, and it is indeed very pretty, and obviously more Spanish than Albox/Arboleas. The house for sale looks lovely as well.
The drive up from the coast is, well, bendy! If you get behind a lorry, it can be a long slog in second gear.

We have a large 2/3 bedroom cortijo, with a large garden situated in El Rincon - Arboleas. Could email you some photo's if you are interested.

Thank you for your response. I'm afraid I lost my password etc for rather a while, and just found your message. (Is this a record?)
We are going to look into renting the house here out and renting up there. It seems the best way to get a feel for the area before committing to buying a house.  Thanks for the idea of contacting the town hall - that hadn't occurred to us.

You might want to consider renting your property out and then renting in Arboleas to get the move made sooner rather than later. Of course that depends on the rental market in your area, but in Arboleas for about 350 euros a month you should be able to find something nice on a long term basis. When buying in Arboleas your first port of call should be the Town Hall and speak with one of the councillors as they can identify for you all the properties that are within the current urban plans and those that are outside it. There are many nice places for sale around the price you are selling yours for but just be mindful of the urban plans. Best of luck in your search.

We are currently living in the pretty white village of Canillas de Albaida, on the edge of the Sierra Tejeda & Almijara Natural Park under an hour to Malaga airport, half an hour from golf, the beach etc.  We have a very nice, sympathetically modernised 3 bed, 2 bath townhouse, with stunning views over the mountains, down to the coast, and even over to Morocco on a clear day.

There is a thriving expat community, although the village itself remains typically Spanish. We have three supermarkets, bars, swimming pool, internet cafe, bus service, doctor's surgery in the village, and the larger nearby village of Competa with all its services is only 3km away.

We are looking to move up to the Arboleas area.

The house can be seen on Kyero (http://www.kyero.com/property/1660193-town-house-for-sale-canillas-de-albaida?) Selling through agents the asking price is now €125k. We can be more flexible on price if we achieve a private sale.

If you are interested, or have contacts who might be, please let us know.

Also, if you have any bright ideas about how we can move before we sell, we'd be interested to know.

Many thanks
