When I was a young lad in Yorkshire YTV had a man called Mr Foggitt who predicted the weather by such means as where the cows were lying in the field, how high the birds flew etc. In the course of a year he was accurate 75% of the time and the Met Office less than 50%. So much for modern technology.

Yes, CT, good old Bob.  Remember him well, and often think of him as I try to work out what itīs going to do by counting the sheep flying backwards!!  As you say though, he was pretty damned good.

I, too, remember Mr Foggit. Wonder if he is still around.
I have a good weather forecaster as well. Its a wooden plaque with a donkey on it which is hung outside... If its tail is wet, its raining  and if its dry its not raining.

According to Google Bill Foggitt died in September 2004 aged 91  - must have been all that fresh air that kdept him going to a ripe old age.

It's funny we never check the weather here. Every morning we check what it's like back home. sunrun  sunrun

If you watch any of the UK TV news bulletins at the moment you can't avoid hearing about the weather back there.

Yes, I remember William Foggit, grew up listening to his forecasts.  I agree, he was much better at it than all this technology today!

What amazes me is that you can watch the forecast on Canal Sur and it goes on for 5 to 10 mins and all that is on the chart are suns
If you talk to the Spanish they are as bad as the British in that they talk about the weather as though its different than yesterday or last year
It was great when it snowed everything stopped. Less than one inch of snow, any reason for a party,
came home drunk on slush made from the snow and adatives, it was just the yellow bits that put me off but only for a short time!
