Halifax still issue Electron cards on their cash accounts. I sure I read somewhere that they were reversing the decision to stop these accounts. Might be worth checking it out.

that's good news but i'm sure ryan air will be onto this quickly & make money from something else,maybe a surcharge if your over 12stone!!! unfortunately i'm with the halifax,or should that be lloyds tsb halifax.

For those wanting to avoid one of the Ryanair surcharges for the use of the mandatory plastic card, HSBC have given in to the pressure and will be issuing Electron cards from January 1st - good old consumer pressure is beginning to be notices by the big banks - unfortunately not Lloyd's though, they have stopped theirs.
