The City and Cave Houses of Guadix, 11th May 2017 – €29

Inland in the province of Granada is Guadix, considered one of the oldest human settlements in Spain. Its old town brings together an important heritage of monuments, with the medieval Arab Citadel, the Guadix Cathedral and various Mudejar-style buildings outstanding, although the most characteristic thing in the city the districts with original cave dwellings.

Guadix was also the location for many Hollywood films including Dr Zhivago, A Fistful of Dynamite and Indiana Jones.
We will take a panoramic trip on the Tourist train to the Caves area:
Stop at the Caves, visit the Ermita Cave (Sacred Cave), visit the Mirador and visit an inhabited cave.
Free time to visit the magnificent Roman Catholic Guadix Cathedral of the Incarnation. Construction of the building began in the 16th century and was completed in the mid-18th century.
Or just wander the city and marvel at the many historic buildings
Lunch will be buffet style in the beautiful and historic Palacio de Oñate hotel.
