Bank charges overseas

Totally agree with previous poster. We were charged.17€ to withdraw 200€ in Portugal. Garage wouldn't accept card.
Amazed to find fuel and eating out more expensive in.an.apparently poorer country. Take cash &'use'Card.

I do not know about Santander bank, I use banco Popular in Portugal and in France.
Buying things with the card is straight forward and does not incur any charges.
If you draw cash from a machine it is very expensive. So take an adequate supply of cash with you and pay for everything by card.
Card payment is used much more in both countries than here in Spain.

Does anybody know If I use my Santander Spanish bank account card overseas, in Portugal! will I get charges? It will probably depend on the account but I do not have time to nip into town.
