Back again! There's a rather good prog-rock band from Poland called Riverside which is worth checking out. Although they have their own style you can sort of hear influences as diverse as the Floyd, Doors, Little Brother and many more - maybe even some T. Dream on some of their longer ambient tracks...

Sadly, the curse of 2016 claimed Piotr, their guitarist.

Have listened to a few, there's so many influences in there it's hard to know where to start. A bit too ambient for me if I were honest.

If we're talking prog then these guys are worth a listen:

but this has to be my favourite yootoob at the moment. Transatlantic live at The Shepherds Bush Empire :

absolutely stunning musicianship.

Just an assult on the ears, but, hey if thats for you, then enjoy, but not for me. i find it an abuse of musical instruments.
                                                                                                        Terry

Now now Terry, let's try & keep things positive. Anything goes in music, that's the beauty of it but if you don't like it there's no need to say.

Steve Vai...... an abuse of musical instruments? ......... well I never

Aaahh...Anthrax.

Nice time-pass if you aren't familiar with Zeperella - particularly like 'It' from the Addams family on drums (!)

Today I'm having a Steve Vai fest (nice and loud)

Jim

Sorry for the late reply but I've been drunk for two days ........ very naughty I know but hey, that'as rock'n'roll

Ah the great, the wonderful, if ever so slightly wierd Steve Vai. This has got to be one of my fave Vai tracks:

Quite a long time ago I know but I loved the Passion & Warfare album.

Hi. Not a great fan of the 80's but that's a gooooood track. Thanks for the link.

One of my favourite bands at the moment making a (very recent) comment about the situation across the pond - hope you like it.

Wow, I think they're pretty damn good, have listened to some of their other stuff and yeah. Ta for the link, think I've found yet another band to follow.

I am the original music hermit and have no idea of what's going about at the moment so it's good when someone points me in the right direction

Now that Barking Mad Studio computer problems have been well & truly sorted out thanks to Simon from Advance Digital, and yes that is a plug 'cos he's brilliant (thanks again Simon), I can now be distracted by all things internet while I'm in said studio (as if I needed any distraction) and one thing I notice is how quiet this Music board is and with the daily whinge going full bore over the other side there maybe we could do with a bit of music eh?

So, here's one to start you off, remember this?
https://youtu.be/RVXjBMK3EkI

The vid was on TOTP if memory serves correct and I think it's a great single........ the album was pretty good too.
Does it remind you of something?.......... remember the Genesis single "Jesus he knows me"? It would seem that someone from Genesis had seen the Hooters vid I think

Enjoy,

Doggy
p.s. and yes, I am supposed to be restringing guitars & putting down an acoustic track but hey!..... I got the interweb back!
