Headlights

We have a Vauxhall Astra GTC 2014 model, on reading the manual it says, if driving abroad nothing needs adjusting as it's a flat beam with it being a newish car, they aren't Xenon lights does anyone know if it will pass its ITV with the flat beam lights, as to change them being quoted 700

Hi it sounds like you're ok then. We took our Mercedes b class to France the headlights don't dip to the left, they dip down. So no need to put on deflectors. I'm assuming the ITV would be ok in this case? Srs should be able to tell you.

As far as I know the tester looks to see the angle is on the correct side for UK or continent. If they are Brit. American flat beam there is no angle to fail the test. It used to be some time ago anyway you couldn't fail a car with deflectors on an MOT because there was no beam in the area of fail. Depended on the tester having a good day.

Hi, we just had our Honda Insight hybrid matriculated onto Spanish plates and we had to have brand new lhd headlamps fitted at just under 500 each !!

First thing any garage will do is check the beam, just having "flat" beanms I would have thought wouldnt get you through the ITV as your beam has to shine to the right.

It would seem that european headlamps have a " switch"  built in to allow dual country use ie the UK and Spain/France etc.  Being quoted 700 to have your Astra changed seems a bargain.
