Download Kodi onto LG smart tv

As the man in the video says, it's got to be a smart tv that uses the android operating system. Many older smart TV's had proprietary operating systems so cannot be used for Kodi. As the man says, if the play store is on the opening ,(home) screen it's android!
Just a small note of caution the brand new Kodi 17 will not work on anything earlier than android lollipop ,(5.x) don't know how to test your tv! Best to try it and see.

I have recently bought an LG smart tv and want to download Kodi. Unfortunately I am completely ignorant with operating systems and computer jargon. Can anybody give me simple step by step instructions on how to do this.

I have looked on "You Tube" but can't find anything compatible with my LG tv. Also "You Tube" only show how to download Kodi to an external device where I want to download it directly onto my tv.
