We went to the one at Llanos de Peral last night and it was full to busting, a lovely service and everyone seemed to enjoy it very much   Thankyou

Camarotes

In spite of the appalling weather, some 40 brave souls braved the conditions to be rewarded with a lovely Service and great singing as the perfect start to our Christmas celebrations.  Particular thanks are due to Nick Duncan who, at very short notice gave up his evening to play for us as our usual organist was unwell.

Happy Christmas to all who read this from the congregation at Aljambra

Next and last Service this year is the Traditional service of 9 Lessons and Carols, to be held at 6.00 pm on Sunday 18th December, which will be followed by Mulled Wine and Mince Pies.

What better way to get your Christmas celebrations started!!

Camarotes

Being now in the season of Advent, with Christmas just around the corner, we're straying slightly from our normal pattern of Services at Aljambra this month, with Evensong being replaced by a Traditional Service of nine lessons and Carols on the following Sunday, 18th December at 6.00 p.m. and no service on 29th December.

So this coming week there will be the usual Communion Service at 11.00 a.m. on Thursday 8th, the only other service in the month being the Carol Service on Sunday 18th, which will be followed by Mulled Wine and mince pies.

Our next Communion Service is this coming Thursday, 24th November at 11:00 am, which will be followed by a lunch being hosted by Janet Yerrell.  And this, for many, will be the first opportunity to meet Rev Derek Goddard, our new Locum Priest, who with his wife Penny, will be with us for the next couple of months.  I hope you'll be able to join us, but of course it would help catering if you could let me know if you are able to stay for the meal afterwards.  There's no charge for the meal, but of course we're always happy to accept a donation.

A busy week at Aljambra this, with a Service of Holy Communion at 11.00 tomorrow, then Armistice Service at 10.30 on Friday and Evensong at 6.00 pm on Sunday.

Camarotes

Our next Communion Service, followed by a meal at Aljambra is to be at 11.00 am on Thursday 27th.  Len and Janetta are hosting this meal but if you are able to join us could you please inform David Price at DRPrice01@aol.com.

And looking ahead a bit, you may wish to contact David for tickets for the proposed London Night on Friday 18th November.  This is a sequel to the extremely popular Lancashire Night, held 2 years ago, and will include a live band playing many popular London songs as well as others and a Pie and Peas meal for the amazing sum of €12 each, which includes the first drink.  Tickets are limited so don't delay on this one.

Next Aljambra is Communion this coming Thursday, 13th October at 11.00 am

Well what a fantastic night that was!!!  Some of the best-loved Classical music played by the World's top Orchestras in the ultimate settings.  And we didn't just listen, but became a part of each magnificent production as the camera allowed us to be there, taking in the  atmosphere and able to watch each bow-stroke, each breath and the amazing hands of the pianists.  Any who missed this lost out big time.  And as a bonus, we enjoyed a picnic meal with wine or other drinks included and sufficient food left over that we were able to deliver enough for several meals to the Evangelical Spanish Church in Albox.

Camarotes

Now looking forward to Friday 7th October at 7.30, which promises to be a great night of great music (Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Handel, Saint-Saens, Grieg, Straus, Pachelbel, Khachaturian, Vivaldi, Holst & Shostakovich, to name but a few) projected on a large screen, with food and wine included (though bring your own if you want additional), contact David at DRPrice01@aol.com for tickets.

And Sunday 9th, Fr Keith will be leading our usual Monthly Service of Evensong at 6.00 pm

Lovely to see the chapel so well decorated, with much fruit and vegetables passed on to Argentino at the Spanish Church near Wavelengths and other food to the Albox Food Bank.  All well appreciated

Camarotes

The Service of Holy Communion at Aljambra on Thursday 29th September at 11.00 a.m. will be our Harvest Thanksgiving, which will be followed, as usual by a Bring and Share Lunch.  We do, of course want to get the Chapel as attractive and representative of this festival as possible so we're planning to meet together to prepare it at 10.00 a.m. the previous day, Wednesday 28th.

We do hope that as many as possible will be able to join with us at this special service as well as in preparation the previous day and, of course for the meal that follows, for which it would help if I could be given some idea of numbers expected.

As with last year, it's planned to pass on all non-perishable gifts to the local food bank, whilst fruit and vegetables will be given after the service to the Spanish Evangelical Church in Albox (next door to Wavelengths), who have a number of members in some considerable need.

Camarotes

Our next Service, on Thursday September 8th, will be a Service of Holy Communion at 11.00 am, taken by Rev Ian Eglin.

Rev Ian will also be taking the Service of Evening Prayer on Sunday 11th at 6.00 pm

Camarotes

This next Thursday, 25th August we have opportunity to meet our new locum Priest, Ian Eglin, who will be taking the Communion Service at Aljambra at 11.00 am.

Following this Service we're planning to hold a bring and share lunch to allow us to be able to welcome him and his wife Caroline properly, so it is hoped that, in spite of the heat, as many as possible will try their best to be there.  It would of course help in our planning if you were able to let me know if you expect to be joining us on this special occasion.

Camarotes

This coming Thursday, 11th August, there will be a Service of Morning Worship at 11.00 am at Aljambra, rather than the usual Communion.

On Sunday, 14th August there will be the usual service of Evening Prayer at 6.00 pm

All welcome at either or both of these.

This month, being the tenth anniversary of the opening of the refurbished chapel at Aljambra, we had intended holding a joint Service with the local Catholic community to celebrate that event on Thursday 28th July, and to that end contacted the local Priest some months ago.

"The best laid plans" comes to mind a little at present as sadly, despite a joint meeting, several letters and emails, we have not received any confirmation as to whether or not the Albox Priest, or indeed any of the local Spanish community, is in fact likely to be joining us.

We however are continuing anyway and plan to hold our usual Eucharist to be taken by Canon Alan Bennett at Aljambra at 11.00 am this coming Thursday, 28th July, which will be followed by a bring and share meal.  Being as this is a special occasion, and in hope that some Spanish may join us for this celebration, we do hope that a good number of British will attend, so if available, we'd love to see you.

Camarotes

This coming Sunday, 10th July, there will be a Service of Evening Prayer at Aljambra at 6.00 p.m., whilst next Thursday, 14th July, Canon Alan Bennett will be conducting a Service of Holy communion at 11.00 a.m., following which, in addition to the usual tea, coffee and biscuits, there will be cakes available for sale.

Camarotes

Thursday 30th June sees our next Communion Service at 11.00 am, which will be conducted by Canon Alan Bennett and will be followed by lunch.

There's no charge for the lunch, though of course donations are always welcome, and it would help catering if anyone planning to stay for lunch would let us know, if you haven't already.

Camarotes

This coming Thursday, 9th June, there's a change in our normal sequence of Services.

Rev Pauline is currently unwell so will be unable to be with us.  Instead, therefore of the usual Service of Holy Communion, Duncan will be leading Morning Worship at 11.00 am, which will be followed by a meeting to discuss arrangements for the forthcoming tenth anniversary of Aljambra Chapel and a cake stall.

On Sunday 12th June, we will be having our usual Evensong Service at 6.00 pm.

We do hope we may see you at one or both of these Services.

Camarotes

Thursday 26th May, there will be a communion Service at Aljambra at 11.00 am, taken by Alan Bennett, and this will be followed by lunch, so please come along and join with us.

Camarotes

Services at Aljambra follow a pattern of Evensong at 6.00 pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month, with Communion Services at 11.00 am on the 2nd and last Thursdays of each month, with a lunch usually being served after the Service on the last Thursday.

For services at other times, there is a service of Holy Eucharist most Sundays at 11.00 am in both Mojacar and Llanos del Peral, with Monthly Services available at Roquetas.

To get to Aljambra drive up Av Lepanto from the traffic lights opposite the BP Garage in Albox on dual carriageway, past Campo de Futball on right and Mercadona on left.  In 600 yards the road narrows and a short distance later when faced with a No Entry sign (suicide corner), turn RIGHT, then keep STRAIGHT ahead at next junction.  Keep on this road forking LEFT at The Corner Shop, then crossing Rambla Hortichuela, past some new houses, and fork LEFT immediately after crossing Rambla Honda, following street lights and signs for Aljambra.  Mind the speed hump!  Aljambra Chapel/Community Centre is about half a mile on the left, with a car park just past it.
